The Hoiseths to Minnesota

Comments Off Featured

Thank you for visiting our site! We are the Hoiseths, and the Lord has called us to start a church in north-central Minnesota in or near Bemidji. For the last four years, we have served in the youth and music ministries at Faith Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel, FL. We are sent out from that same church, under the leadership of Pastor Scott Naill. We would appreciate your prayers as we endeavor to follow the Lord’s leadership in planting an independent, fundamental Baptist church in the Northwoods of Minnesota.

Look No Further

No Comments Ministry

This Resurrection Sunday at Northwoods Baptist Church, we will be looking at John 1:29, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” In preparing the message, my mind went to the song, “Look No Further,” and the message of that song was perfect. Since we don’t have the GloryBound Quartet coming this weekend to sing it for us, we came up with another moving way to get that message across. Granted, no images can do justice to the Word of God. It’s certainly not done by a professional, but I believe it can be a blessing. Read more

A Mighty Hunter

“He is just the luckiest person I’ve ever seen!” I complained to my Dad. We had just been discussing the huge buck my brother Todd had shot. For a long time I’ve felt like I am the runt of the Hoiseth “litter” in deer hunting. Every year my brother and my Dad shoot what seem to be “once-in-a-lifetime” bucks. I have a couple of little eight-pointers on my wall, but they are almost embarrassing when put against the monsters these guys bring home every year! So when the latest report of Todd’s annual series of monster bucks came in…

Tebow-mania

No Comments Ministry

I must admit, I am a bit of a Tim Tebow fan. How refreshing to look into the world and see a young man who from all appearances is pure in body and devout in faith! It is obvious that his fame has brought him a national platform, which he is using to glorify Jesus Christ. In an area of society where corruption and carnality are the norm, Tim Tebow stands out like a bright light in a very dark place. Is he a modern-day Daniel: an undefiled young man boldly standing for right in the midst of a culture of wickedness? Maybe… Read more

“I want you to go to see a neurologist or go to the emergency room for a CT scan as soon as possible. Something is causing swelling behind your eye.” That’s not exactly what I expected to hear from my optometrist during a routine eye exam. On my way to the ER the next morning, I kept thinking, “All I wanted was to order some more contacts!” In one simple eye exam, I gained more focus than I had ever anticipated. Everything in the periphery of my life faded away with only God and my family left in focus.

My pastor yesterday borrowed from the Declaration of Independence for his sermon title. He preached about “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” I can’t help but wonder if our post-modern society has any idea what those words really mean. Growing up, we kids had a popular catch-phrase we would employ any time someone told us we could NOT do something that we wanted to do. I’m sure you’ve heard the cry of the immature whiner before: “It’s a free country! I can do whatever I want.” It was one thing when we were just a bunch of annoying kids. But now we’re all grown up…yet the immature whining continues.
